We Can Change!

Teensneeded makes a good point. Why focus on marketing when it isn’t the only problem here. For one thing, marketing is a symptom of what is wrong in Estes Park. The marketing department was created illegally by being against State Statute. They have a staff of incompetents and account for somewhere between $2.5 and $4 million taken out of the general fund to be misspent on programs that are not very good. Everyone in Estes Park that pays taxes should be mad as hell about this, but they don’t seem to care. So let’s look at other fixables: How much is spent toward the Scottish/Irish festival that is a private function? How much is spent on the Rodeo and where do the gate receipts go? To Top Hands and funneled to Town employees instead of back into the rodeo.

So, the bottom line on why don’t we have stuff for teens? It is too much work for the people that could make it happen; People such as Pinkham, Levine, Baudek, Doylen, and the like. They don’t have a vision. They don’t see beyond staff recommendations and they are self serving. We need to eliminate EPURA as the “planning arm of the Town” because that isn’t what they were created for regardless of what Al Wasson says. Why did he sell out? Corruption in this Town is too nice a word.

When will we see things change? When we have the courage to vote for new people. When we make demands and stop settling for poor performance.
