ESTESPARKIAN VOTES

Of course the opinions are subjective based on our personal deliberations.

Eric Blackhurst

I will cross Eric off of my list first and it was the easiest to do. Smart enough to manipulate the system and profit from it. Ran for the Home Rule Charter Commission but was not a supporter of home rule?? Eric has taken a decidedly anti Home Rule stand intimating that local people cannot legislate there own community, of cource he will do it for you. As an alternative to Home Rule Eric favors altering Colorado State Law to meet local Estes Park needs, an effort akin to a mouse romancing an elephant - delusional at best. The tactic of changing the State of Colorado statutes to meet local political needs is a tactic past trustees have tried time and again and failed miserably - time and again. Eric “pay attention this is important” Home Rule is simple “the rules of your home” a charter is the local rule book by which local citizens legislate their own community. The obvious conflict of interest of a spouse-employee is more than enough to say: NO to ERIC

Dorla Eisenlauer

If you want to know what Dorla thinks ask Tom Pickering. Or if you want to know what Tom Pickering thinks ask Dorla, well you get the idea. If Dorla does for the citizens of Estes Park what she did for the Chamber of Commerce members, good lord help us. I read something she said about home rule, but it was a gibberish attempt at a political answer and I fell asleep, I have heard it all before from Tom anyway. Say: NO to DORLA

John Ericson

John has been on the EPURA board for a good length of time, to make all important decisions the EPURA board goes into executive session more often than the town trustees. Will John allow for a more transparent government, not if history is any indicator. Is John a leader or a follower, if John were in the room would you know it? I seriously question the numbers man angle, for example; any good numbers man worth his salt would know that the parking study was a utilization study and the towns parking issue is an economic problem, which would warrant a comprehensive economic impact study. How will signage solve anything, an open parking spot at any given time is totally random, how will new signs tell a traveler from Iowa there is a spot on Cleave street when they are circling the Post Office? Challenging even for the locals. A one time four day snap shot of parking is not enough data to be statistically significant and allow for any meaningful conclusion, that study was an opinion, not a proof. Stop with the numbers man stuff, my CPA is a great numbers man, but he would be crap as a trustee. JOHN best of the worst. May bloom in the spot light.

Dan Speedlin

Give me just one reason to vote for you, just one. Do I have to read between the lines here or what? Speedlin may be a sleeper, someone to shake things up, but Dan needs to spell things out. Dan, Winter Park has a parking structure; Deadwood South Dakota has a parking structure. Define a big problem or define a big solution. Dan now that you are on your own time drive down to the new Centura Shopping complex; It is the newest trend in shopping malls all across America. A Plaza with parking immediately adjacent to the store you desire. Not very well informed. Hard to score.

Richard Homeier

Richard will need help from a supporting cast of trustees, to speak out more meaningfully. YES to RICHARD

Dorathea Sloan

Clear view, good political speak, I disagree with her view on the proposed performing arts center, but that’s okay because she would allow me to vote on it. The top candidate, by far. YES to DORATHEA

Summary

Yes ! to Dorathea Sloan
Yes ! to Richard Homeier
? Dan Speedlin
? John Ericson
