The Real Problem Lies Within

Everyone wonders why things don't get done in Estes Park and why the Town Board won't listen to anyone, like the perfectly logical Paul Fishman. His parking study shows the total inadequacy of downtown parking, to the detriment of businesses and the Town. Businesses fail and the Town receive fewer and fewer tax dollars.

If you don’t know by now, the Town Board doesn’t do anything that would improve the Town circumstances, unless it benefits some developer friend. A good example is the new project about to take place behind the Safeway. This was not a highly marketed piece of property, nor was it open to bidding. It simply snuck by as Parcel 4, excess inventory. But why would the Town follow any guidelines when they have Atty. Gregory White. His answer is:

“ …there is a legal theory that says a municipality does not need to adhere to its own zoning ordinance because it can change it simply by a vote of the Town Board, said White, who defended the Town.”
