Some Things Never Change

The truth is, winter in Estes Park has given one pause to once again survey the landscape and try to find changes that might have been made that would show Estes Park in a more favorable light. The Estesparkian has been to several meetings of various groups, read, listened to fellow citizens and come to the conclusion that nothing has changed. This is a dismal little community that continues to have minor groups fight over single issues and then disappear. There is no continuity, no common ground, no positive influence that might lead to a healthy, fun and progressive community.

Follow are some observations- You all have to live with it

The hospital receives a bond to build something they were never intended to be, but can’t afford improvements in the area that they were chartered for- trauma. So, $20 million plus has been wasted because more and more of our fellow citizens flock to the valley for healthcare and the emergency room has to beg for donations for improvements. If you are dumb enough to give them anything, so be it. Why wasn’t this a part of the overall plan?

The $400K was approved for the Hermit Park property that will NOT benefit the Town. The fact that the property isn’t in Town doesn’t seem to faze anyone. I want a summer home in St. George, Utah, will the Town buy it for me?

We’ve been over this before. The Town doesn’t spend wisely on our rivers. First a $500K Kayak course (which it isn’t), and now a narrow sluiceway along Wiest Street. Have you seen this thing? What an embarrassment for our river frontage. Where is the outrage?

What about an assistant for Repola? He with a part time job needs an $80K plus assistant. Where is the outrage?

Baudek is still lying about the need for utility rate increases. He never has told the truth about this. Never.

The Chamber-Town dispute is still a stand-off. Lois Smith did everything she could to sell the rest of the Chamber down the river, but even the Town doesn’t want it.

The shuttle service is now expanding. The arrogance! They call this a “free” service that sets marketing back thousands of our dollars. Useless and not free. Where is the outrage?

No folks, same crap, different day here in Estes Park.
