Candidates for the Charter Commission are now properly registered and can begin their campaigns. Of course the Estesparkian will be following the race and may have some opinions as to who might not be qualified candidates. Surely you’ll want to hear about any news that there is?
For now let’s just say that the Town Board is not qualified to participate in the Commission, even though they are attempting to control it. They’re the ones that say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” They have had years to do this Home Rule thing and have fought it all the way. Now that brave citizens force it as an issue they are afraid to be left behind so they feign support. Don’t be fooled. We can’t expect different results if we choose the same solution.
