It has been suggested that the Estesparkian is anti-townhall, slamming the town and anyone in it, just a bunch of negative tirades. To these detractors I say,, yea so?
This is such a target rich environment; I have it all to myself and I’m having a ball!
To those in the mainstream media that waste a forest of trees and barrels of ink each week in the local “newspapers” droning on about crap no one cares about in an attempt to be relevant I say eat my digital dust. Your not funny - your not insightful - your not relevant - your not educational, your well,, not good fish wrapping anymore; collectively you would have to climb a ladder to kiss my mouse. You have become mainstream and part of the system and no longer subjective observers and commenter’s but enablers and coconspirators. If you can’t find good material in town hall to print, you have to be journalistically and academically challenged or blind idiots, the place is a virtual cesspool of porn, waste, turn over, nepotism, hidden agendas and excessive spending a virtual cornucopia of writing material.
This would be a good example for a column for a real journalist:
When do our town trustees become smarter than the people that elect them?
“The Job” is oversight on my behalf; “The Job” is to be my eyes and ears to make sure Randy and the Boys stop doing criminal stupid shit like they are doing at the visitor center. “The Job” is not finding probable loop holes in the law that appears to allow our employees to spend our money in crazy and stupid ways. “The Job” is to understand and respect the limitations and there are limitations of coarse there are limitations; it’s our money that’s how we control how our money is spent “We The People” impose limitations, laws, gates if you will, where you can not proceed until “We The People” get to vote on it. When did “The Job” become experts negotiating in the back room with our employees? Working out purchases with our public money where “We The People” can not see because “We The People” do not understand the voodoo you do in executive session? You are hiding things from us and when you hide from us you are not being honest or accountable. If you must do it in executive session you probably shouldn’t be doing it!
You assume “We The People” do not understand the complexities of negotiating, purchasing, human resources or town government - get that ladder out climb it and kiss my ass because you are wrong.
Good huh? Feel free to use it.
Here is a follow up column:
As citizens we entrust the responsibility of operating our community to a group of employees. We compensate them well, salaries, benefits, the best equipment and current technology in a beautiful environment. We do not ask them to do a lot; no town employee is over worked. We empower them with the authority to carry fire arms and if need be they have the responsibility to detain us to keep the peace. When all is said and done, working for the Town of Estes Park is a privilege a pretty damn good job considering the demands. Along with the perks of being a town employee come the responsibilities of accountability. The money that is spent so freely is after all our money not yours and we demand as much oversight as is humanly possible. I do not care what the town employees think; after all they are employees not stakeholders. When they break the rules they must be prosecuted, they must understand their personal liabilities when spending public money and if they violate the public trust, ignorance is no excuse.
They are all expendable easily replaceable, tomorrow. We need the best of the best employees to be the best community we can be, start by firing that idiot attorney. Stop hiring your buddies, your sons and your aunt Bonny, climbing into bed with your employees is no way to demand respect as a manager.
There are questions; there are a lot of questions as to where our money goes.
Raise the bar.
Home Rule - Rules.
