No Parking Required

Well it looks like town staff decided there will be no parking for you stupid down town business owners, but you will get some shinny new signs to look at. Take solace though, your customer will be able to see your stores out of the windows of the bus as they drive by on the way to the park – wearing the tee shirt they bought in the visitor center. Parking is important, ask any motel owner as they have one parking spot for every room they rent.

The downtown retailers well…No balls no blue chips. Did someone really rent a shop down town for $6,000.00/month triple net? Didn’t anyone talk to these people? That’s a lot like jamming your cash in a paper shredder. Your on your own in this town, it’s your money, tough luck too with the new mega gift shop coming on line in May.

Here is something new to fight over, bus stops, if there will indeed be a shuttle bus system with stops downtown that’s going to jam up traffic real good, stops unloading and loading and all. Has anyone put any thought into where those stops will be located? How many stops are planned and will the buses run all day and night or banker’s hours? Bus schedules, advertising on the sides of the buses, pay to ride or free, handicapped accessible, so many details. Finally, do you remember voting to create a regional transportation district here in Estes; one of those tricky little technicalities required to operate a mass transportation system. God forbid there is some accident. Can you imagine the lawsuit this town would be in, cha – ching, lotto time.

Messtes Park. It’s hardly worth bothering about.
