Good Lord, the town trustees can’t even follow simple state statutes! Put on your thinking cap Estes Park and look back the past five years, how many times have the trustees been to court and lost proving the fact the trustees refuse to operate our community lawfully?
Why are the Town trustees pulling out all their shady political tricks to grant themselves the power to confiscate your personal private property, borrow money to do it and require all the taxing districts in the area to pay back that loan? All of this can and will be accomplished behind closed doors out of sight of the public. Which of you out there in Estes Parkianland has the resources to fight your own tax dollars in federal court? Essentially Urban Renewal in Estes Park will make your property their property, only… you get to live on it and pay taxes on it until a developer comes to the trustee with a proposal that your property would be better utilized if they owned it!
If EPURA is renewed, the first bit of political logic that will be applied is; "If you didn't want us to use the powers why did you allow us to have them?"
