What's In A Name ?

The grandstands; who will benefit from the millions expended on the structure and to what end? The naming rights are for sale and I think that the people or persons that benefit the most should kick in, it’s only fair.

Some naming ideas:

“The Roof Top Rodeo Arena” has a nice ring to it, but:

The Estes Parkian isn’t too much in love with the Roof Top Rodeo Committee. It is true the committee receives a lot of Small Rodeo Committee of the Year awards, but the rodeo itself is anemic. For your information the rodeo contractor is paid to produce the rodeo, the Rodeo Committee and Top Hands (one and the same) are window dressing. Rodeos are rated not by the size of the committee or the number of the grandstand seats or the size of the community. It is rated “small” because of the size of the prize money that is paid to the cowboys. Every cowboy is independent - competing with every other cowboy for the prize money. If you are rated a small rodeo it is because your payouts are small, medium sized rodeo medium payouts etc. So our rodeo committee could rightfully get the award for the cheapest rodeo in America. Even though we have more seats to sell and the committee raised the ticket prices, the cowboys still will not benefit. Shame on the town, shame on the rodeo committee, and by the way last year not one bull rider covered their bull in any of the performances (rode their bull for eight seconds). When I was a kid team roping slack lasted until the wee hours of the morning and there were great concerts. What kind of rodeo will you have without cowboys and cowgirls? Oh well - our stupid tourists don’t know the difference - don’t be so sure!

How about the David I have made tax free millions off of the Scottish Irish Festival and Tattoo “Taylor Arena.”

The Will Smith (thanks for the email by the way) “EPURA Memorial Dust Bowl.”

We like the sound of “The Pork Barrel Events Center.”

We like the “No Concerts Allowed Arena!”

How does the ”I Could Have Been A Parking Structure Bowl”

“Estes Park Empty Pavilion”

And fondly our favorite:

The “Tom Pickering Arena” sounded perfect because both Tom Pickering and the Grandstands cost the citizens of the community a fortune and sit unproductive 99% of the time.
